An update on everything Safe & Sound

It's been a busy few months at Safe & Sound. The service delivery team continue to work exceptionally hard to manage the number of referrals, and behind the scenes many hours are going into making the 'Keeping Derby Safe & Sound' appeal a success.

The charity has been successful in several funding bids and is delighted that both Children in Need and Comic Relief will be funding existing postholders for the next 3 years. Despite these successes the charity really needs to grow to continue to meet the needs of the most vulnerable children and young people of Derby. This is the reason for the appeal. Please support it if you possibly can.

At the end of June Safe & Sound will bid a sad farewell to their current Chief Executive, Sheila Taylor. She leaves the charity after more than 6 years to take up the post of Director of the National Working Group for Sexually Exploited Children and Young People. We will all be sad to see Sheila go, but wish her well for the future.

Nationally, child sexual exploitation has hit the news again with the charging of 8 men in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.
