On Saturday 9th July Derby band the James Warner Prophecies held their Big Ol’ Bash at The Old Bell on Sadler Gate.
The night was organised by the band to raise awareness of child sexual exploitation (CSE) after they became aware of the devastating effect that it can have on the lives of affected children and young people, and their families. In addition to this event the band have spoken about CSE at every gig they have played throughout the year, and will continue to do so in the future.
In the hope of raising some cash too, James Warner Prophecies wrote, recorded and packaged their single 'Justify'. The CD was available to buy on the night with all donations going to Safe & Sound. Sales of the single and the proceeds of a bizarre banana auction (yes really!), along with the generosity of local businesses who bought the CD in advance, resulted in a fantastic £517 being raised......... and every one of the limited edition singles going to a new home :)
This bucketload of cash spent several months being watched over by the band whilst the summer holidays came and went, and summer turned to autumn, but eventually we all got our acts together and you can see the cash being handed over to Steve Boxall, Chair of the Keeping Derby Safe & Sound appeal, by Joe Brown, lead singer of the James Warner Prophecies.
Everyone at Safe & Sound would like to say a (very belartd) huge thank you to Joe Brown, Andy Pearson, The James Warner Prophecies, and the support acts on the night – Whitemoor and Waking Vegas – for a fantastic evening and an amazing fundraising effort
